I wanted to share with you some of mine and my buns favourite toys. I have a nice variety of toys that my buns like to play with that are suitable for both them and the weather as they have an outside run and hutch. Most of them are plastic baby toys but they are the best for rabbits as they come with no small pieces and they are easy to clean and last a long time, which is ideal for them being outside and natural chewers.
I do have a supply of natural toys which I will get into a bit later but firstly, I wanted to talk about their favourite plastic toys.
With my buns being outside, I was after toys that wouldn't get ruined or mouldy in the cold wet English weather, so baby toys were ideal for this. You can get a huge variety of different toys whether it's a set of stacking cups that you can hide treats in for them to throw around or create a tower for your buns to knock over or if it's a ball with a bell in for your buns to chuck around and make lots of noise with - especially in the early hours of the morning. I keep these in a little plastic container to keep the bunrun looking tidy (albeit it doesn't always look tidy, thanks to Malibu) and the buns can get to them whenever they like. There are a few toys on the floor of the run for them to play with too.
PLASTIC RABBIT TOYS
STACKING CUPS
I have two sets of stacking cups both from Amazon - one set is brightly coloured and the other is pastel colours. The buns love knocking them over if I stack them up into a tower, throwing them around especially if I put treats inside some of the cups.
JINGLE BELL BALLS
I think these are more targeted towards birds but they work great with rabbits too. The bell inside jingles when the ball is thrown or moved around and Malibu loves chucking these around the run. I have a plain pink one which was Zaya's and a multi coloured one which is slightly bigger that was Malibu's.
TREAT BALLS
I have two of these carrot treat balls that opens at the top so you can put treats inside and leave it slighly open for your buns to roll it around and the treats fall out. This is a great way to change up their dinner time routine so they have to work for their food rather than eating straight from a bowl. You can get different sizes as well as different colours - I have the Small Yellow Ball and the Small Blue Ball.

INTERLOCKING CHAINS
These were a new find I found on Amazon, of these interlocking multi coloured chains that lock together. Malibu loves dragging these around the run. You can change the colour order and each colour has a different design on them. I got two in my pack so they have plenty to play with and enjoy.
PLASTIC KEYS
You can pick up various baby toy plastic keys online, I managed to find carrot shaped ones on Amazon. They did have stickers with numbers 1 to 3 on them but I rubbed those off as they were starting to wear off from the weather. I can't find my ones on Amazon anymore but these ones are similar.
TWISTY THROW TOY
I found this twisty throw toy whilst browsing and shopping on RabbitRetail.co.uk which is my new favourite place to find treats and toys. It's retailed for children but it's great for buns too. The toy is a twisted loop with various shaped tokens on it which travel around the loop that buns love throwing around.
NATURAL RABBIT TOYS
I also have a lovely stash of natural rabbit toys for the buns to shred up and chew on. I'll be honest, they don't last very long especially around Malibu! He can chew one of these toys up in minutes. Natural toys are great for rabbits to explore their natural instincts of chewing and digging and gives them lots of mental stimulation, hence why they are called 'boredom breakers'.
I keep these in a container in the bun shed for when I need them, mostly during the summer as these can get easily ruined in the winter months. I have quite a few favourite stores I buy from including Binky Bunny Bites, The Binky Bunny Club, Floppy Shoppy, Teddys Bakery and Natures Goodies. I alternate between who I buy from and change up the style of toys every now and then.
I have also created my own natural homemade toys, which I will talk about in another post and give you a guide on how to make them yourself. I had a No Spend Christmas last year and came up with some of my own toy designs suitable for buns and made them out of things I already had.
